“Rapture is a marvel of compression and packs the punch of a 300-page novel. The writing is exquisite and the story a brutal and beautiful exploration of the devastating extent a child will go to find an approximation of security and love and a sense of meaning.”
— Lily King, author of Writers & Lovers and Euphoria
“In magnificently stark and evocative prose, Rapture tells the story of a lonely youth who joins a tribe of lost boys led by an enigmatic veteran waiting for the end of the world. Reid Sherline wields each sharply-honed sentence like a knife, cutting through the camouflage of masculinity, and exposing the desperate need in each of our hearts to find a place to belong.”
— Hannah Tinti, author of The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley and The Good Thief
Reid Sherline earned his MFA from UC Irvine. He is an alumnus of many conferences, including Aspen Words, Bread Loaf, the Community of Writers, GrubStreet, One Story, Sirenland, and Tin House. Rapture is his debut fiction.
